Out of curiosity, I set up an LinkedIn alert for “CIAM engineer” a year or so ago. I ended up seeing a number of job listings specifically for CIAM engineering. There were lots of repeats and recruiters shopping the same job, but it still was interesting.

Now, LinkedIn job search is problematic. I get repeat listings, you can’t tell if something is a direct hire or a recruiter casting a wide net, and the matching algorithm offers up a grab bag. But let’s take a look at these 24 listings, which I reviewed manually.

8 were duplicates. These were either the same organization posting multiple times or recruiters copy/pasting job requirements.

While this is not a large dataset, this is indicative of the wide range of experience and technologies that all qualify as CIAM engineers. The titles ranged widely too.

Most of these jobs involved implementation of existing identity store platforms, but there are also jobs for homegrown systems or where the systems weren’t specified.
