We’re on a mission to meet the need for a new generation of mental healthcare tools that are as dynamic as the people they serve and the world in which we live. To bring the art and science of effective therapy together in a portfolio of digital therapeutics, applications and tools that automate both the content and the process of therapy. To develop technology capable of building trusted relationships with people, so that we can  solve for gaps along the entire health care journey, from symptom monitoring to episode management.

An important mediator of therapeutic outcomes is the working alliance between patient and provider. A close rapport is a necessary component for change, a challenge still unmet in the digital world — until now. Woebot’s breakthrough is its ability to form a therapeutic bond with users. With Woebot, we’re defining what it means to connect positively with technology in the modern world.

Published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR), our latest observational study involving 36,070 users found that Woebot, our relational agent for mental health, can establish a therapeutic bond with users — a construction long thought to be unique to the domain of human-to-human interactions. The findings are unprecedented in a commercialized product and could mark a foundational step toward purely digital solutions’ ability to meet surging demand for mental health care.
